AlfaR DTA: Two parallel mechanisms for fund registration

Fund registration is undergoing a paradigm shift. The register is evolving from a static record into infrastructure that can progressively support real-time operations. AlfaR’s Digital Transfer Agent (DTA) service brings this shift to life through two parallel mechanisms within one service framework.

Fully on-chain ledger

Registration records are maintained on-chain, with the on-chain ledger serving as the authoritative record. Instructions can be settled as they arrive, supporting real-time settlement and always-on transfers. On-chain operations leave a traceable record for audit and review.

On-chain auxiliary ledger

The existing registration system remains the foundation. A synchronized on-chain ledger provides auxiliary records, supporting compatibility with existing regulatory and audit frameworks, alongside an established off-chain fallback.

Institutions can select the mechanism that fits their architecture and compliance requirements. The two mechanisms share one service framework while assigning different roles to the on-chain ledger.

Four capabilities underpin the shift

  • Real-time processing: move progressively beyond end-of-day batches toward faster unit confirmation and settlement.
  • Verifiability: retain on-chain records that provide a traceable evidence trail for auditors and regulatory review.
  • Liquidity: shorten transfer paths and settlement cycles within the applicable compliance framework, enabling more efficient circulation of fund units.
  • Compatibility: use the auxiliary-ledger mechanism to connect with existing regulatory and audit arrangements through a practical, established implementation path.

The service covers the full registration lifecycle: an investor portal; register maintenance and recordkeeping; end-to-end KYC, including identity verification, sanctions screening, investor eligibility checks, wallet binding and whitelist maintenance; subscription, redemption and transfer processing; and end-of-day reconciliation and regulatory pre-filing support.

AlfaR DTA serves fund managers, private fund managers seeking to reach digital-asset investors, digital distribution platforms and licensed institutions.

With two mechanisms operating in parallel, AlfaR DTA helps fund registration move from a back-office record toward real-time infrastructure, bringing efficiency and operational resilience together for safer, more efficient and more trustworthy registration.
